Sibling Rivalry

This morning when I woke up I was a little worried because I couldn't think of anything to blog about, and I've been doing so good! But I've come to realize that Justin and I live a fun and exciting life, never a dull moment even when you are supposed to being having a nice and relaxing day at home.

Most days, I shouldn't even say most, pretty much everyday Georgie, our cat and Kaedo, our dog get along just fine. Now I'm not saying their best friends or anything, even though I have pictures of them cuddling on the bed together. But they get along for the most part, that was until this morning.
For some reason, unknown to myself and Kaedo, Georgie is very upset with Kaedo. Kaedo and I were playing fetch and as far as I can tell Kaedo has done nothing wrong. I threw the toy and he would go and get it, never once did I throw the toy at or even near George. But after we were done playing Kaedo asked me if he could go outside and so I got up to let him out. Now I play it up a bit, because we want Kaedo to think outside is a good thing, since we have to leave him out there while we are at work. So I was baby talking him and getting him really excited to go outside. I opened the door and Kaedo goes out and I see this little black blur right behind him. I have never seen George run that fast before, actually I've never seen her act like that before either. She chased, that's right chased Kaedo around the yard for a good 3 minutes big puffy tail and all. I ran to get the camera but I was too late by the time I had it she was on her way back inside. I could not stop laughing and poor Kaedo I still can't figure out what on earth he did. But they have been going at it all day and I've just been letting it happen. I figure this is the most exercise Georgie has had in a long time and Kaedo's getting attention and their not bothering me, it's a win win win.

Golfing

Saturday before the big event began a few of us went to Deer Park golf course for a quick round of golf.
There were 2 teams, now tell me if these sound fair?

Team 1: Layne, Lee, Jim & Kari, Eric and I think Adam Johnson

Team 2: TJ (I know what your thinking we already lost, but wait there's more), Justin (he didn't even have clubs), Me (shh...don't tell my doctor, I only took like 5 shots anyways, but still not much help), Jais (who had never played before), Mary Kay (who had just learned how to play this year) and Reed (our only prayer, haha)

I never heard what the final score was, but I think I know who won. But that's ok we had so much fun!!!
I'm really looking forward to next the time we get to go golfing, actually I'm really excited for when I get to play. Because driving the cart is fun, but I'm not a very good caddie just ask Jais, it's just way more fun when you actually get to hit the ball.

Now for my favorite part of my blog, and I know it's yours too, PICTURES!!

This picture makes me laugh twice, not only is TJ looking like...well TJ but we had to play around the sprinklers. I guess you can consider that a water hazard.

Justin lining up for a shot.
I know I was making fun of Justin earlier saying he didn't even have clubs, but I was really impressed with how well he played. I guess all those dates to the mini golf course paid off.

Here's Jais avoiding another (yeah that's right a different one) water hazard, but at least she is dressed for the water. I had never seen anyone play golf in flip flops before, haha

The boys waiting to tee off on the first hole.
Reed in flip flops too, haha he had hurt/broken his little toe and his feet couldn't fit in shoes. And he still was our MVP

Mary Kay and I'm gonna say she is taking a practice swing, lol otherwise she missed the ball big time.

Chain of command

In our house, as in most I'm sure, there is a chain of command.

Justin- Head of House, King, President, Captain, or Ruler if you will

Janelle- Housekeeper, Queen, First Lady, First Mate and Ruler of Justin

Georgie- House Cat, Thinks she's Queen of the house and sometimes the world, Oldest child, and Security Guard (which means she patrols the house and tattles on anyone who is naughty, will also in force punishment as well)

Kaedo- House Dog, Prince, Cuddle bear, Middle child, Georgie's personal punching bag and keeper of the turtle (Since Georgie has control over Kaedo, he decided he would keep an eye on that turtle and believe me when Sheldon is doing something wrong Kaedo informs us)

Sheldon- House Turtle, Bottom on the totem poll, Last to get fed, Neglected and sometimes forgotten and a mystery to the other 2 pets

Here's Georgie making sure that Kaedo isn't having too much fun out in the yard

Kaedo is making sure Sheldon doesn't get to high

At this point Kaedo starts barking to let me know that Sheldon is too high

Life is always entertaining at my house

Sheldon

Justin came home from work a couple weeks ago very excited! I was upstairs working on our new guest room at the time but I could hear him calling my name from the moment he walked in the door. "Janelle?" he called, "I'm upstairs" I replied. Then I could hear him hurry through the house  and up the stairs. "Come see what I found in the pasture today!" he said with a smile. So I walked over to the stairs and in his hands he was holding a turtle. "Take a look at his eyes", he said with excitement. And he was right the turtle had the deepest shade of red I had ever seen. Plus I didn't even know turtles had red eyes. "Can we keep him?" I asked. "Yeah!" exclaimed Justin, thrilled to see that I was just as excited as he was about his discovery.
So I searched through my old things because I had a couple of fish growing up and I knew I had kept the fish tank. I found it and took it down stairs and Justin placed the turtle inside. "What should we name it?" I asked. "I don't know, you pick" replied Justin, "How about Sheldon?" I said feeling very clever. "Yeah that sounds good" Justin said really caring less. I smiled to myself, I had never had a turtle before, what an adventure. The next day we searched online to figure out just what kind of a turtle Sheldon was. We were very thankful to learn that he was not a snapping turtle, but a Western Box turtle. We also found out that the red eyes means that he's a male, because the females have brown eyes. And Sheldon's are red, really red, that must mean he's a very manly turtle. Also we learned what box turtles eat, if they are wild, like Sheldon, they eat bugs and worms. But if they are bought in a store they probably eat berries and lettuce. Sheldon loves worms!! It's really neat to watch him eat them too, kinda like we eat spaghetti. Haha
Anyways he is the new addition to our family so you should come over and visit him!

Expecting Mother's Day

As most of you know I love holidays!! Any chance to celebrate and have fun I'm all for, plus I get to decorate. People think I'm crazy because I decorate for almost every holiday, this year I even decorated for St. Patrick's Day. See:

But anyways....back to my story.....where was I? Oh yeah Mother's Day.
I was pretty bummed out because other mothers kept telling me that this year's Mother's day didn't count for me and that next year was my first "true" one. I would try and plead my case to them, because after all for the last 7 months I had been feeding and taking care of our baby. That's got to count for something right? But every time they said "no". I even tried a loop-pull with my pets, after all I feed them and take care of them, haha. So Justin being the smart and wonderful guy he is created a new holiday just for me, "Expecting Mother's Day". He even got me a present and he wrote me a card from him and the baby. I'll show you the gift, but the card is so sweet that it might damage his "rough and tough" image so I'll keep that all to myself.

Also on Expecting/ Mother's Day we went out to Grandma's house for lunch. We made noodles for homemade chicken noodle soup. Now that I think about it, even the chicken was "made from scratch" if you will. lol

Oh homemade noodles are sooo good!!! yummy.

Sand Dunes

On Easter some of us took a hike up the hill behind Grandma's house.................

Once we reached the top of that hill we decided to conquer another one
in a follow the leader style apparently

And look what we found!!

a huge blow out!! Actually it was so big we couldn't get it all in one frame

Now look at how much fun all the kids had playing in it

if you scroll through it really fast it looks like a movie, haha

rolling down the sand

I have no idea what he is doing, but it looks really cool

I can't wait to go back again when it's a little bit warmer and when  I get to play too!!!

Class of 2011

Although we had no "family" graduating from Valentine this year we had many friends that we went to support. The ceremony was really nice...and short, haha. But my favorite part was all of the graduation parties!! Here are just some of the pictures I took from the graduation.

James made giant cut out heads of his friends graduating, the bodies belong to Ethan, James and Justin

 The Honor roll students

Chelsea giving her speech

Laura and Francisco

Then the next weekend Jais graduated from Cody-Kilgore High School, but I couldn't go :( But I did help her make mints so that counts right? So I apologize because these pictures (that Justin took) are not as good. It's not his fault though I took the good camera with me to Lincoln.
(Again I wasn't there so correct me if I'm wrong)
Jais giving a speech

 Getting her diploma

Her graduation party was at the Cody Firehouse and it looks like the boys found something to play with

I'm not thinking Jais wanted her picture taken, Justin
But she looks so cute!!

Congrats and Good Luck to all the graduates of 2011

Easter

I thought it was only fitting that since Easter came so late this year that I too should post my Easter pictures late as well. Not really but hey at least give me some credit for trying.

This year for Easter my parents came up from Lincoln to visit us, and I got to be the Easter bunny. On Saturday we all went out to Rex and Gale's house to color eggs. We were all pretty lazy this year not too many eggciting eggs, as you can see.

To tell you the truth eggs were so boring this year that the boys decided to have a rubber band shoot out instead.

And you know how boys ( maybe it's just brothers) are something as simple as shooting rubber bands turns into this:

Who knew take downs were apart of dying Easter eggs

After all that eggcitiment, Justin and I went out to eat with my parents at The Peppermill for their  25th wedding anniversary.

Easter Sunday
Look at what the Easter bunny left us:
The one on the left is my parent's, middle one is Justin's and the right one is mine

I made Justin and my parent's breakfast, french toast yumm, and then my parent's had to go home. My mom had to work on Monday :( so they didn't get to come out to Grandma's house for Easter lunch.

It was a little windy, but a very enjoyable day
This was after the Easter egg/ basket hunt. I made (or should I say the Easter bunny) these giant eggs for each of us, lets see what's inside them.

First Justin
Who apparently decided his method of breaking would be throwing it at James.

He got drill bits

Now Marshall is going to break the golden egg

He got a really cool tee shirt

James karate chops his egg out of the air

He got a tee shirt too

I went for the cement, since I knew my present wasn't breakable

I got mini plush peeps

Broken eggs

After lunch some of us went on a hike to a blow out, but you'll have to wait for a different post to see those pictures, this one is long enough as it is.
But that was our Easter, hope you enjoyed yours as much as we enjoyed ours
