Baby legs

This weekend I was very productive! I cleaned and organized the laundry room, it looks amazing! Sorted through two of my dresser drawers and went through all of my socks and took out of the ones with holes in them. But I didn't throw them away, what did I do with them you ask.. Well I made baby legs or leggings. See:

What I did was picked out some of my favorite old socks, cut the toes off (they had holes in them anyways), hemed them and ta dah baby legs. They are awesome for Elle to wear and play in around the house. And for the second pair I left the toes on because the holes in them weren't as bad.

"Stinkin" cute snowmen

Last week I sorted out holy socks and socks with missing mates and this week I've been doing craft projects with those socks. In this post I'll show you one of the crafts I made: Sock Snowmen! and no they don't stink but they are stinkin' cute, hehe.

They are so super duper easy, no sewing involved so anyone can do it! I can't wait to use them in next year's Christmas decor.

If you would like to make your own sock snowmen either visit this site or come by my house and I'll show you how.

Had to do it

Earlier this week I got this email and it made me laugh so hard I had to post it to my blog. That way if I ever have a bad day or feel sad I can come back and laugh at it some more. Enjoy!

1st annual Wal-mart  car show

It took me awhile to figure this one out, he's hooked up a hot and cold knobs for his ac. But has a brand new stereo.

Baby steps

I've been doing so good with my goals this year, I know it's only February but it only takes 21 days to make a habit and February has 29 days this year. That is 8 extra days to slack off, haha. Just in case you don't know my goals this year are as followed:
  • Declutter our house, I would like to get rid of 30% of our stuff
  • Finish our house, like painting and decorating
  • Get abs back in time for Vegas
  • Create not only memories but works of art
  • Fun filled Summer
So that brings me today, which is one of my many busy days, and I know that I'm not going to get everything done on that list. But if I can do a little house work, decluttering and make one craft project I call it a successful day. Now let me present to you my craft project:

I know it's simple and it's not going to make my house prettier or more efficient but maybe I'll clip it to something that I give to someone and seeing this little heart will bring a smile to their face or brighten their day. That's right this little craft that took less than a minute to make will hopefully someday make the world a happier place. :)

PS don't feel bad if you try this at home and can't get it on the first try, I went through like 5 paper clips before I figured it out

Decluttering your life

I found this handy little calendar last week called declutter calendar 2012 and since you know I've been trying to get rid of...I mean free up some space in our house, I was super excited to start using it. It is really easy and nice because it stretches the decluttering out over 12 months instead of doing it all in 20 mins like I've been trying to do. But since I am an over achiever (ha) I am going to do it in 6 months, because I have a garage sale to get ready for. So I took the calendar that they put together and modified some things, which I'm sure you'll have to as well, and hung it on my fridge. That way I see it everyday, Justin sees it and either reminds me to do the task or does it himself (oh yeah, he's good like that) or one of my house guests sees it and asks me about it and that in return reminds me to do my task. Hey with Elle, Justin, our pets, cooking, working, cleaning, and now decluttering I need all the helpful reminders I can get. So when does baby brain go away??

Well I hope this helps you declutter your life or jump starts you for spring cleaning!

PS
To my family and friends, if there was ever anything of mine that you always wanted now is the time to ask....before the garage sale or it goes up on ebay because I will charge you for it then, hehehe. Speaking of if you want to check out my ebay site my user name is janellesimmons19

Old tee shirt bibs

One of my goals for this year is to declutter our house. I'm having a garage sale, I've sold lots of clothes on ebay, donated stuff and I've thrown lots of things away. But there are some things that I just can't let go of, well actually Justin has a hard time too. I don't know why but we can not get rid of our tee shirts! We have 3 or 4 plastic storage bins full of our old tee shirts, plus a whole closet full of ones we still wear. But now I have a great way of keeping our old tee shirts (that we love) and putting them to good use.

Tee Shirt Bibs.
Here is the instructions on how to make your own baby shirt bibs. And here is one of the ones I made:

I used an old Cookie Monster shirt that I wore back in middle school and a wash cloth from my dorm days.

Back to creating magic

Growing up in a city I never experienced cabin fever, or if I did I could always go and do something even if it was just walking around the mall. Now that I'm living in a small town, so small it doesn't even have a Walmart, I've been....I don't want to use the word bored (because I was told once "only people who don't like themselves get bored" and that is definitely not the case) we'll say couped up. So I've started several projects around the house since it's too cold to leave the house haha. And I'm so happy that I'm back to "creating magic" as it were. I love making things, painting, coloring, sewing, photography and just about anything to do with art. So get ready for more posts with me actually creating something, haha. Hopefully my art projects inspire you to start your own projects! :)
